Ottawa Press Conference - Consumers Council of Canada (National Building Code)

Thursday, October 4th 2007 9:39:08am

Joan Huzar, past-President of the Consumers Council of Canada (the Council) and current Chair of the Council's Energy Committee, and Ken Elsey, President and CEO of the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance, call for the inclusion of energy efficiency in Canada's National Building code during a media conference in Ottawa on October 3, 2007.

The Council also releases a new report, called Energy Efficiency in Building Codes, which outlines how the majority of Canadian provinces and territories have inadequate energy efficiency provisions in their building codes for houses.

The Council provides a series of recommendations based on their extensive research to help protect home buyers from rising energy costs and fight global warming.

The report is available at www.consumerscouncil.com.
